a very odd question

Is anybody familiar with a musical setting of Gerard Manley Hopkins' "Spring and Fall, to a Young Child"? ("Margaret, are you grieving," etc.) Does one exist?

I found myself singing it while I was washing the dishes this evening, and I am trying to figure out whether I heard it somewhere, or whether I have officially become one of those people who goes around singing poems to tunes of their own invention. The latter would not surprise me at all.

I always end up singing it, too... but I'm pretty sure I've never heard a musical setting, if one exists... (So, probably not helpful, but it does seem to be a very "singable" poem.)

But I think you should keep singing whatever the hell you want to whatever tune you want!! Much more fun that way sometimes.

If it makes you feel any better, I make up my own songs and then sing them. In another life, I'll write Broadway shows.

Yes, it's totally singable! Although probably not by me, because to be perfectly honest, nothing is.

Actually, it looks like it's been set to music a few times. Try a Google search on the title plus "music" and see what comes up.
