moon_custafer: ominous shape of Dr. Mabuse (curtain)
I love Lear but have never seen it done live, and have only once ever seen it performed at all(a video of the Olivier tv production from the 1980s). I actually fear going to see it; it seems to me that watching a stage play you’ve previously read is riskier that way than watching an adaption of a book you love, because it’s not an adaption – it’s the exact words you saw on the page, but not necessarily delivered with the inflection you heard in your head (in the case of Lear, it’s the Fool and also Kent that I worry won’t live up to my expectations)--- but that production sounds AMAZING.
